Street Light Project: Illuminating Kedungu
The streets of Kedungu are becoming safer and brighter thanks to the street lighting initiative supported by The Kedungu Fund. This project is driven by collaboration with the Kedungu Community Committee and includes:
- 80 new street lights along the main road and key alleyways.
- A total cost of IDR 242 million for the first phase of installation.
- Enhanced safety and comfort for residents and visitors, particularly at night.
This vital project started in late 2024 and represents a collaborative effort with the local Kedungu community. Additionally, The Kedungu Fund’s founder, Omri Ben-Canaan, has engaged expats and investors through creating the “Kedungu Lovers Community” WhatsApp group, fostering wider support for this initiative and the many more in planning.
Clothing Donations: Spreading Warmth and Care
In Kedungu, we’ve proven that collective care can drive real change. Our team, together with families, friends, and the Kosong Satu Group, gathered and donated 201kg of clothing to support families in need. This initiative aimed to:
- Meet essential daily needs with clothing that provides comfort and warmth.
- Strengthen community bonds by encouraging acts of giving.
These donations highlight the meaningful impact of coming together to support local families in need.
Creating Green Spaces for the Future
Environmental stewardship is central to our vision for Kedungu’s development. That’s why a % of all land assets managed by The Kedungu Fund will be transformed into vibrant green spaces. These areas will feature:
- Native fauna and flora to enhance local biodiversity.
- Serene, jungle-inspired environments for recreation and community use.
- Areas for families and children to gather and play – Something that is greatly missing in wider Bali.
By prioritizing green spaces, we are not just protecting nature—we are creating a haven where people and the environment thrive together.
Grow in Kedungu: Building a Bright Future
Education is essential for building a strong and vibrant community. The Kedungu Fund is leading the development of a 1,500m² international elementary school, a milestone project that will:
- Provide a high-quality learning environment for local and international families.
- Open its doors in August 2025, fostering new opportunities for the growing community.
- Boost local infrastructure, amenities, and economic activity.
This school symbolizes our belief in education as a cornerstone for long-term community growth and prosperity.
Recycled Volcanic Ash Bricks: Sustainable Building Materials
We are constructing with bricks made from recycled volcanic fly ash from the coal industry. This innovative approach:
- Reduces industrial waste.
- Lowers the carbon footprint of construction.
- Promotes greener and more sustainable building methods.
This initiative supports our commitment to environmentally responsible development in Kedungu.
Water Harvesting & Filtration: Smarter Resource Management
Water conservation is essential to sustainable living, and The Kedungu Fund has implemented systems to maximize this resource:
- Rainwater Harvesting: Capturing and storing rainwater ensures every drop is conserved and used effectively.
- Grey Water Filtration: A multi-layered pond filtration system purifies grey water, promoting responsible water reuse.
These initiatives showcase our commitment to sustainable water practices that benefit the local community and all of Bali.
Solar Panel Energy: Harnessing the Sun
To reduce reliance on conventional power sources and embrace renewable energy, we are exploring solar energy solutions. This initiative aims to:
- Minimize environmental impact.
- Pave the way for a more sustainable energy future less reliant on coal.
- Showcase innovation in Kedungu’s development.
Our commitment to solar energy reinforces our goal of fostering long-term, eco-friendly growth in the region.
