Bali Tourism Hits New Record in 2025
As the first working week of 2026 begins, Bali’s tourism figures for 2025 confirm a milestone year for the island.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster announced that the province welcomed more than 7.1 million international visitors in 2025, the highest number ever recorded. This surpasses the pre-pandemic peak of 6.27 million visitors in 2019 and confirms Bali’s continued appeal as a global destination.
Official data shows around 7.05 million international arrivals via Ngurah Rai International Airport, with an additional 71,000 visitors arriving by sea, bringing total foreign arrivals above 7.1 million.
While international tourism surged, domestic tourism dipped slightly in 2025. This was linked to reduced flight availability due to aircraft maintenance, higher domestic airfares, promotion of alternative destinations across Indonesia, and recent natural disasters elsewhere in the country. As a result, total domestic and international visits reached about 16.38 million, just below 2024 levels but still the highest total seen in the past decade.
Looking ahead, infrastructure is a key priority. Governor Koster confirmed new support for road upgrades, continued development in Buleleng, and early works on a planned subway connection between Ngurah Rai Airport and Kuta.
At the same time, 2026 is expected to mark a shift in tourism policy. Authorities have signaled stricter enforcement against illegal developments and zoning violations, with a clear emphasis on high-quality, sustainable, and culturally respectful tourism.
At The Kedungu Fund, this reinforces our focus on strategic land banking in emerging areas that benefit from infrastructure expansion, clear zoning, and sustainable planning—positioning ahead of Bali’s next decade of transformation.
